Like other Legacy Cities, Philadephia has experienced challenges with property abandonment mainly privately owned. The number and diversity of players in Philadelphia’s approach to vacant property posed significant challenges to the City’s effectiveness in the past. However,the convergence of policies and entrepeneurial leadership marked by coordinated and systematic efforts have allowed Philadelphia restore and sustain multiple neighborhoods.
This case study documents Philadelphia’s efforts to become a more sustainable and resilient city by fostering collaborative alliances and converging policy reforms.
